Evening Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit

Let my prayer be set forth before You as incense;

and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Holy scripture reminds us in many places that we should acknowledge and confess our sins and not try to deny them or hide them from God, our Heavenly Father, but rather, we should confess them with a humble and penitent heart, trusting in His infinite mercy and goodness.

(Use this time to examine your life and confess your sins before God. You may choose to pray the following)

Lord God, I have sinned against you and done evil in your sight. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. Have mercy on me! Have mercy on me! According to your love, wash away my wrongdoing, cleanse me from my sin, and renew a right spirit within me. Restore me to the joy of your salvation, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

 The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who
trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. AMEN

Daily Scripture Readings

The mighty one, God the Lord,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.

O Lord, write these words on my heart

That I might not sin against you.

Lord, have mercy
Christ, have mercy
Lord, have mercy

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayers

Merciful Father, whose guiding hand has brought us to the ending of this day, we humbly pray that You stay with us and shelter us in the quiet hours of the night that we, who are wearied by the changes and chances of this passing world, may rest in your unchanging peace, through Christ our Lord. AMEN

(Offer your prayers to God,  giving thanks,  lifting up those in need and asking for His blessing. Please remember the requests of the congregation. )

Into your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.
For You have redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
Into your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.

Canticle – Nunc Dimittis

O Lord, guide us while waking
and guard us while sleeping,
That awake we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep, rest in His peace.

Now, Lord, you let your servant go in peace:

your word has been fulfilled.

My own eyes have seen the salvation

which you have prepared in the sight of every people;

A light to reveal you to the nations

and the glory of your people Israel.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever.

Closing Prayer

Lighten our darkness, we pray, O Lord ; and by your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night, for the love of your only Son our Savior Jesus Christ. AMEN.

The Lord Almighty grant us a peaceful night and a perfect end. Amen.
